Furnace brand recommendations?

I’ve gotten quotes from 3 of the many heating companies in BK. We have an old forced air heating system whose furnace is about to kick the bucket. Each company recommends a different brand with the same solution. How to choose? I only find bad reviews for all of the brands when I look online. Good warranty seems like the best safeguard no matter what the brand. Other reviews say they are basically all the same. Anyone have a personal yes or no that they would like to share?

I just left you a link to my consulting service page. It lays out my qualifications to answer your questions fairly well. I try not to openly solicit for business here but it sometimes happens. There are plenty of other good contractors that advertise or otherwise participate here too. Absolute Mechanical, Aladdin Plumbing, Gateway Plumbing (mine), Errol (commenter here) is a great controls guy, to name a few.

Do you install furnaces MP, or just boilers? I’m asking just in case my 50+ year old Lennox ever needs replacement.

That’s exactly right. A quality installation is far more important and provides for lasting results than the brand of any mechanical equipment. Unfortunately, brand is easier to identify than “quality installation” for most homeowners.

I’ve come to understand that proper and optimal installation can make or break the performance and longevity of something like this. Make sure you’re using a quality contractor.

We have a Lennoxx furnace that was installed by the previous owner of our house several years before we bought it in 1974. It’s still going strong, requiring only annual oiling, greasing, and filter changing. The only part I’ve had to replace is a belt [>40 years ago]. If the furnace goes during my lifetime I’ll try to get the same brand [after researching whether new ones are also well-made].
