capping a steam radiator
We have a large radiator in a small bedroom and the valve is always closed because heat from other parts the apartment is sufficient to keep this room warm.
I asked our landlord if it would be possible to pay for a plumber to remove the radiator and cap the end of the pipe so that we can gain that floor space (the existing unit is way too large for the room and is placed awkwardly).
I was told that it is not possible to do so (“there has to be a radiator attached”) but I am not clear what the difference is between having the valve closed and the radiator being there and having the valve closed and the end of the pipe being capped off?
Can someone tell me if the landlord is correct or if he is just saying this because they do not want to deal with this request?
