Boiler service contract - worth it?

Our building’s considering getting a service contract for our boiler, since we never have it serviced at all. Obviously a yearly servicing would help, but is it worth going ahead with the contract? Have you been grateful in the past that you’ve had a contract, or do you feel it’s overkill and not worth the money? What are some situations where the contract would come in handy?

No matter what you do you will pay full price at the end. It is all about relationship. You need someone you know to service your boiler. You need someone, who will come in the middle of the cold winter night to keep you warm and safe. And contract is not a guarantee you will get it.

Your building has an industrial appliance that makes heat for the residents all winter long, and maybe hot water too, by mixing components dealing with water, electricity, and combustible fuels which ultimately results in a near-constant fire that creates high levels of carbon monoxide within the envelope that is your living space and you need to ask if it’s a good idea to have a qualified person take a look at it once a year? Just out of curiosity, What dollar amount would seem unjustified to you?
