Who does mantle fixing + installation these days?
Belvedere Chimney(Kamil Lapinski) can do this. Chimney companies are usually more expensive for non-chimney work, because they pay a lot for liability insurance. They work on rooftops, and errors could lead to CO poisoning, or fires. So if it’s just a decorative mantel, you might pay less if you find a handy mason who can put it together for you. I don’t know anyone off hand, but perhaps others do.

This is not a recommendation because I work for Brownstoner, but just FYI there are some companies in NYC who specialize in chimneys and old fireplace restoration. Some of them advertise on the Brownstoner Services directory under “chimney.” Perhaps someone else on here can recommend someone they have used.
