Thorocoat vs. Behr Elastomeric Masonry, Stucco and Brick Exterior Paint

yeah. I can see why. Wonder how these porches and stairs looked originally. Unpainted cement?

Does any one have experience with Behr Elastomeric Masonry, Stucco and Brick Exterior Paint

I need to waterproof an exterior brick wall whose stucco is cracked and eroded in places. When it rains hard, moister seeps through to the inside of the wall. It was recommended to me to use Thorocooat, but neither Lowe’s or HD carries it.

I tried drylock and it only worked for a few months,
I had a company do the stucco and they used a special waterproofing
Still no water 4 years later
I forget what material they worked with

I needed to match a color of existing brick during a backyard reno and had a can of Benjamin Moore’s offering whipped up from a color sample that peeled away. I had serious concerns that this wasn’t a company specialized in this kind of paint….but it turned out to be quite excellent and holding up really well after a several years. Since the color palette is basically infinite, I’m going to go this way from now on. I threw the can out so I can’t tell you which it is, but I imagine they don’t have that many masonry paint bases.

I had the porch, the base of my house and the stoop done with thorocoat last year. The vertical stuff looks fine. The stairs and porch are starting to chip in places…but I have to shovel snow off of it. So I’m not sure if that is really avoidable.

Chemosphere, anyone who recommends any coating product for any flat surface that expands and contracts (other than an elastomeric roof coating) is setting you up for failure. Some people do it for cosmetics, to match brownstone color after a patch, which is fine, but you aren’t going to “waterproof” any flat surface and it will always come off by definition.
