Hi all, caught between needing a locksmith and a creative finish carpenter to install new mortise locks/door hardware in our original entry doors. We got the hardware on house of antique hardware so it’s supposed to be as close to the original as possible, but they didn’t have anything that was 100% exact, so some fidgeting around with the size of the existing mortise box will be needed. I don’t dare try this b/c our doors are too beautiful for me to mess up. I don’t trust a regular locksmith either (afraid they’ll just hack it in) – so am looking for a carpenter with lock-related skills – anyone out there? 🙂 TIA

www.thetinkerswagon.com. combination wood worker/locksmith with some ability to retrofit old lock trim with modern locksets. wood worker first, locksmith second. think of it as a handyman service for doors. a bit more pricey than your main line locksmith. also available for consulting as you set out to order product.
