Sidewalk damage from city-planted tree (in landmark nabe)

Get in touch w/ Parks Dept. You’re not allowed to have any work done that has an impact on the tree. You should be able to get the violation voided – it’s a common problem.

Hey B’stoners! Has anyone ever dealt with sidewalk damage from a city-planted tree in a landmarked nabe? Long story short, I rec’d a sidewalk violation for cracked concrete. The city acknowledges that the damage came from the tree that they planted in front of my home, BUT since I’m in a landmarked nabe, they’ll do nothing about it.

I can deal with that BUT my issue is, as the tree continues to grow, I’m going to have the same issue regardless of if I repair the sidewalk tomorrow.

Anyone else dealt with this? I’ve called 311 to see if they city would consider enlarging the tree bed. Any other options that I’m not thinking of?
