Scaffolding to do brick work on 4-story brownstone

The scaffold can be lowered from the roof so long as roof, structure etc are all good, but you still need the owner of the property that you are working above to agree. They will want some insurance etc.
So long as you are working with contractors that have a riggers licence, they will work it out. But do not attempt this with anyone that does not have a riggers license.

I need to have some masonry work (brick repointing) done on the side of my building. I do not have access to the ground below. Does anyone know if it is possible to hang scaffolding off the roof without needing to haul it up from ground level? A bucket scaffold won’t work because it’s too far from the street.

Get estimates from contractors who will do the work – they’ll know how to deal w/ it.

facade work can be done by swing-stage scaffolds (hanging from roofs) but the structure of the roof has to be evaluated and determined to be adequate to support the installation.
