Hi all,
I wanted to take a moment to thank and give praise to Steve/Home Inspector for his work on a roof inspection. I received a last minute request from my insurance company to send photos of my roof to demonstrate what condition it was in. Being diligent, I went ahead and hired Steve to do an inspection. Long story short, it required remediation and he detailed exactly what was required. After the work was completed we had him come back out to reinspect. Lastly, since he was on site we went ahead and had him compete an inspection of the basement. Our overall experience was positive. He shares an immense amount of information on this forum and I believe we are lucky to have him around to share his professional expertise.

Op, thank you for acknowledging me here.

When i perform roof inspections, i take the homeowner on the roof and explain to them what i am looking at and what they have to watch out for and what has to be done to maintain a roof (and what can be done by a homeowner). i explain what can be maintained and what must be replaced. my roof inspections also include an inspection of the external chimney and the parapet walls and surrounding mortar and the related flashings. i also run thermal imaging inside to spot leaks or the sources of leaks.

Following up to this post because it led me to Steve/HomeInspector and I wanted to go out of my way to also recommend to anyone with roof questions or inspection needs.

We had water intrusion on the top floor ceiling of our home and I hoped to do a comprehensive review to find and remediate any sources. Steve responded quickly and was able to pinpoint the known leaks using thermal imaging – plus an additional unknown leak. On the roof he quickly identified the intrusion sources as well as a laundry list of other issues (including several missed on the home purchase inspection report).

I’m a relatively new home owner and typically lurk on these forums to pick up general knowledge. I assume there are others in a similar situation so thought I would share how useful this inspection was. Steve spent a huge chunk of time walking through not just what was wrong with the roof but also what to look for, how to think about issues, potential solutions, and guidance on h ow to maintain going forward.
