Package theft

the police never want to take a report. my then 12 year olds bike was stolen out of our back yard and i found it nearby. it had a flat so the thief dumped it. when i called the police they had every excuse for not taking a report, including that my son might have left the bike there.

this is the problem with the police. they all complain they are over worked. that is what they have told me on two occasions they would not take a report at my house. but do they not understand their own system enough to know that you have to report crime to get help? they are great at pushing back against the public and we hear their union shout this and that but why won’t they push back against their bosses? they have a union to do this.

if stuff for my business was being stolen, i would tell the police my insurance policy requires a police report or something.

the bad thing about this is, if this keeps happening, shippers will begin charging a premium to come into the city or i can imagine ebay sellers declining to ship to certain areas.

So sad to hear that this apparently happens to almost everyone 🙁 And shame on these people stealing during this horrible time. We have 2 small kids, I can’t imagine if one of these packages was actually something I urgently need for them, e.g. formula/diapers. Argh…

I don’t blame the police for not taking the reports, I blame the mayor. Crime was up before the virus and so much was going undocumented intentionally.
