Neighbor's Lights Too Bright!
There may be a manager who is only there in the day and doesn’t even know how bright they are. Hopefully a friendly request will get them to change the bulbs.

A building on our street recently installed new lights. They appear to be white LEDs and are over the building’s front entrance and along the facade. There are at least six or seven lights in total. It’s a four-story building on a quiet Park Slope street
The building had lights before, but they appeared to be merely decorative, with the exception of a couple of brighter lights over the front entrance way. Until they made this change, our street was lit about the same as any other in our neighborhood. Now, however, the area in front of the building looks like its lit up for a movie shoot. It’s excessive. It’s as bright as day, even in the middle of the night.
Does anyone know what the requirements are for exterior building lights? I’m assuming their are different requirements for residential versus commercial, small buildings versus large and new versus old. The building is not a brownstone – it’s a four-story condo with what I’d estimate to be about 15 – 20 units. And does anyone know what would cause a building’s management to choose something so bright? We’d like as much information as possible before we seek out the building’s management company to ask them to correct this problem.

With the seemingly regular attacks (typically on women) at night and early in the morning in the area, they may just be trying to make it safer. As someone who often is out very early (before the sun even this time of year), I find most blocks to be woefully underlit.

I don’t think it’s because of safety. The building was perfectly lit before and our block has the new LED street lamps. Must be another reason.
I’ll ask them to dim the lights or install less powerful bulbs.
