Maintenance Free Backyard Patio and stairs

Galvanized steel would likely be my choice, but you’d probably still need to paint the welds with cold galvanizing compound possibly periodically. This would be much cheaper than stainless, probably adding 1500 or so the the project, but hard to say without knowing the components.

Another option that would fit the bill would be a fully masonry structure. You can put a walk on skylight if you have the budget. I recently bought 4×8 one for about 4k, but installation obviously adds to that, probably around 2500, but could be different depending on what needs to be done. A grate floor is a cheaper option, but has it’s drawbacks.

I am looking for suggestions for a maintenance backyard patio and stairs (eight steps) that provide access from my 1st Floor into my back yard (would have to be non-flammable: Metal, Steel, etc.) the patio would be over a small basement window, so any patio flooring that lets some light in would be a plus. I am interested in something that would not require painting and would not rust. Thanks

@rhjmem The only thing that would be truly maintenance free would be stainless steel.

In a “mill finish” it will look industrial/modern, not like the shiny stainless steel that has been popping up everywhere.

You could also have a steel stair fabricated and have the components hot dipped galvanized before they are installed.
