I’m looking for recommendations for a good, reasonable carpenter for some built in cabinets and custom shelving for an existing cabinet for my house. We could use a little help with the design so someone with some ability in that area would be helpful. It’s a small job so we’re not interested in using a design firm. Thanks in advance.

The advantage of going through a design firm is they have millworkers they have vetted and can verify quality of craft and professionalism. In the long run hiring someone on your own could cost just as much money if not more if you need to have something rebuilt by a shoddy handyman.

rach: i am not sure who they are putting forth here but there are quite a few cabinet builders around the city making and installing these cases. they may not be big companies but they are not handymen either.
