Look for Eastlake Door Hardware

Well, the thing about posting a want ad to all members of the ADCA is that you’re not just speaking to pricey websites. Collectors and vendors alike sometimes buy box lots in order to get that one piece they really want….and then the pieces they didn’t necessarily want to acquire just sit. So you may be better off picking up singles here and there through an ad, rather than assuming you’ll be dealing only with professional vendors, and have to pay a fortune for a set. Also, I found that when I joined, and introduced myself as a newbie restoring a house, I got sympathy and appreciation from other members, as I was someone new who clearly respected the quality of original pieces…and that sympathy seemed to translate into good deals, particularly from individual collectors. Again, this was quite awhile ago. But it may be worth a shot.

Update. First off, my partner found an extra 3 doorknob pairs in a bag leftover from before we bought the house. A major win that will save some $$$.

Second, having consulted www.antiquedoorknobs.us I don’t whether our knobs are actually Eastlake or just general Victorian. We live in a neo-grec house with definite Eastlake features . The original manufacturers catalog shows they were produced within the Eastlake period but describes from as being from the Classic school of design.

Does anyone know if that means they are not Eastlake afterall???

They’re beautiful but don’t look especially Eastlake to me Victorians weren’t purists about style so d suggest using the doorknobs I’d you like them.

You still might want to use them; they’ll look fine and if you eventually find something you like better it’s easy to switch door knobs. If you buy vintage Eastlake doorknobs from a pricy website you’re practically guaranteed to find others at a fraction of the price at some out of the way antique shop soon after. [YES, I’ve had things like that happen].
