HI, I’m searching for a fireplace mantel/surround, approximately 58” wide. I’ve searched here and went to Big Reuse a while back. I’m not having much luck so I thought I’d post. Ideally, I’d love a simple white marble one (not too ornate), but haven’t seen anything that I like. Since I’m not having much luck with that I’m also open to wood if it’s in good condition. If anyone is trying to get rid of any mantels please let me know. THANKS!

There is a chimney expert in Brooklyn who collects and sells old fireplace mantels. Does anyone have his name and number? Also other salvage places may have such as the one in the Lowe’s parking lot in Gowanus.

If you have a vehicle and the time to go to Albany, you might find what you’re looking for at a reasonable price at the Historic Albany Foundation salvage warehouse. There are neighborhoods in historic districts there built contemporaneously with brownstone Brooklyn, and you never know what may be in stock. The manager is quite cooperative, and if you describe what you’re looking for, he can probably send you photos and prices if he has something that fits the bill. Their inventory turns over quite a bit, so he might also be able to keep an eye out for you as stuff comes in.
