HVAC specialists that don't require a contract and are honest?

HVAC work isn’t under warranty? I agree with @master plvmber, if you don’t want a maintenance contract just say no. That doesnt mean they are dishonest. Sometimes paying for quality service that’s reliable, is worth the money.

We have a brand new HVAC system (Ruud) and it’s been quite problematic since purchasing the home last August. We’ve dealt with Vigilante and Petri but they’re expensive and want to charge you just for assessing the problem and then rope you into an annual contract. Looking for an honest company that doesn’t have 40 employees, knows what they’re doing, and isn’t out to take advantage of you. Is that too much to ask for?

Both Vigilante and Petri are two good companies. It takes money to send a qualified technician to your home, at your request and to your benefit, and so they seek to reimburse themselves in order to remain in business. If they offer you a maintenance contract you don’t want, simply refuse the offer. Most people would be disappointed if they weren’t presented with all the options.

consider getting a maintenance contract. especially if you’ve been having problems with the system getting someone on board who can actually get into the nitty gritty and understand the system and then being able to have that person/company come back to deal with other issues as they come up is helpful. maintenance contracts typically spell out basic service visit costs as well, which you’d then know in advance of future calls.

We have installed some mini split LG units and they are working beautifully. I think you should give a call to the contractor I have used for different jobs in our home.
