Anyone use Flo by Moen water detection & shutoff system

This probably works well in a single family, or a vacation home. In a multi family, or even a single family building with more than one bath, I could see two showers running and it shutting everything down.

But there has to be something that works.

I recently saw a segment on This Old House about this water monitoring system that connects to the main water supply that can monitor and detect leaks and automatically shut off the supply. I thought about installing a shutoff device specifically for my 3fl washing machine but something like this handles the entire house. Wondering what others experiences are with this or similar devices and if you’d recommend. Sometimes TOH shows new technologies that aren’t quite battle tested. (not shilling ) https://meetflo.com/

I’m interested in hearing about this too — been comparing the various products available (Phyn Plus, Buoy, etc) and there are so few credible reviews out there it’s silly —

So far, from what I can gather, some Flo users reported a lot of false alarms, while others love it.

I’m more inclined towards Phyn Plus, which claims their tech is different, leading to fewer false alarms, and they also claim they can pinpoint leak locations where Flo can’t, but it’s the priciest of all of them so I haven’t bitten yet.

Flo still in the mix tho.

Recently had a discussion with CHUBB insurance and they said we HAD to install a system like this in order to secure coverage. They were pimping a system called Leak Defense. They said they had a discounted rate. https://leakdefensesystem.com/

They all have seem to have pros and cons based on the scant online reviews. Wondering if any plumbers on this forum have insight/ experience with these devices. They all require a strong wifi signal near the water main in my cellar so that’s another thing to figure out.

We had an overflowing washing machine (failed internal sensor) result in the collapse of the parlor ceiling below and significant damage to the laundry room floor. When we repaired the damage, we installed a relatively simple leak detector that shuts off water to the WM if there is any moisture in the pan below the machine. Its the “Intelliflow System by WATTS.” The company also provided phone tech support when we had some issues with shut offs (see below).

My only complaint is that it is VERY sensitive and if there is any water or condensation in the pan, the water will shut off. But the peace of mind from the system is more than worth the minor inconvenience.

I have no idea how a whole house system would work and how it would differentiate between the flow required to fill a bathtub and the flow from a burst pipe. Technology, I guess.
