any tree service in the yellow pages should have a chipper and stump grinder.

Hello folks! I am a member of the Presotect Heights Community Farm on St. Marks and a few weeks ago we had a huge sick maple tree cut down and now we need a wood chipper. Parts of the trunk are approximately 2 feet in diameter and we also have a huge pile of smaller branches. The chipper can take the chips or leave them behind. We are looking for someone to grind down the exisiting stump as well. Ideas, suggestions and referrals are welcome! Thank you!

Try calling the Parks Department. They usually have someone who handles trees in each area of the city. Since you are a community organization, they might do the wood chipping for you for free.

Good idea, Joe. Also the folks at Prospect Heights Street Tree Task Force might be able to point you in the right direction. Contact them at phstreetrees@gmail.com.
