Scale infestation
Also, Joe Merola at Kings County Nursery gave us a spray and it got rid of it immediately. You should see the euonymous now.

Our Euonymus hedge is infested with scale and is in need of serious help. It is also overgrown to the point that I cannot reach the back to trim it. Can anyone recommend a garden maintenance company to take care of the problems? The hedge is in front of an ugly chain-link fence, so its survival is essential. Thanks

This is something you can easily take care of yourself. Euonymus are easy to trim back; there is no special trick, just cut it back in the shape you want with a pair of pruners. You can’t really hurt it by over-pruning (not the case with many other plants), so you can learn on the job safely. For the scale infestation, you can get some neem oil spray at any garden center. You’ll need to apply every few days (and right after it rains) for a week or two.
