Quick plant suggestions needed!

Looking for quick plant suggestions (need by Saturday!) – tall (4′ or so) thick tree or bush to plant in a large oversized pot or box. We’ll need 2 or so of these in our front area along our next door neighbor’s stoop (specifically along our fence that separates our area from the very bottom of their stoop and a few steps up). They have a dog, and we have a young child that likes to stick her hands through the fence. So, we’re looking for a solution to keep little arms going through the railing. Something that is full year round to provide the protection we’re looking for. Preferably something that doesn’t need a lot of watering. Something like a dwarf Alberta Spruce or like a thick hedge-like bush? – something wide – but not deep – to plant along the back of our yard. Open to anything. It can be tall or short. This is for cosmetic purposes – we just want to hide the ugly fence back there without losing much yard space. It gets enough sun back there. Something low maintenance preferable. Thanks!

and Lapide’s at Terminal Market has EVERYTHING 50% off this week! Shrubs, trees, plants and pots too! I’m sure there are other nurseries in Terminal Market with similar sales – but I was at Lapide’s the other day – great selection!

On one ugly fence I have English ivy growing, on the other I have honeysuckle. They cover the fence and only need trimming. The ivy is a nice background, and you will also have space to plant whatever you want. As for the front, boxwood is pretty standard.
