Emerald Green Arborvitae (backyard plants)
Where can I find 8-10 foot emerald greens in NYC, preferably Brooklyn? or a plant similar to the emerald green? I need about 8 of them to create some privacy in my backyard.
Thank you.

Kings County Nursery is a good place to call. They might be able to order something for you if they don’t already have it in stock.

Your best bet might be ordering from a nursery…trying Bissett or Half Hollow on Long Island

Try the Indoor/Outdoor Garden in Bay Ridge on 5th ave and 83rd street or Home Depot in Coney Island.

hey fellow -zoid. I just google-imaged “emerald green”. FWIW, I believe I saw them being sold in Home Depot on DeKalb (Bed-Stuy) last weekend. They were on sale for $4\. I’m not a garden expert, so it might be a completely different plant 🙂 They were also quite small, you’d have to grow them for a while until you get the desired privacy. My missus is looking for bamboo for similar (privacy) reasons, if anyone knows anything let us know!

You can try Kings County nurseries or Gowanus nursery by phone, and if you don’t find satisfaction there, I highly recommend fast-growing-trees.com out of North Carolina. These trees grow about 2-3 ft per year, and will be about 8ft at maturity, but you can buy almost fully mature trees (6ft or so.). They will cost you quite a bit more than 2-ft tall trees, over $100 per tree as opposed to $25 for the younger ones.
