Salvaged wood floor

http://cdn.brownstoner.com/4ff30a95b27f6-.jpg

Hello…Anybody know where to find salvaged tongue and groove wood flooring?  We’re looking to fix the floors in our kitchen.  4.5″ (with tongue it’s 4 3/4″)  White pine maybe?  Many thanks, Elle

Thanks for all the responses!  I think we found some white pine that will work at Sawkill Lumber http://www.sawkil.com/  All the other suggestions are great to know for future reference.  Cheers!

We are doing a renovation for a client where we needed to remove the joists in the house and replace them with new laminated beams.  Rather than throw them out, we denailed them and had them cut down to 3 1/4″ x 3/4″ quarter sawn old fir tounge and groove boards.  I have about 2000 sq/ft that we got out of the joists that the client does not need for their flooring needs.  We are selling them for $5.25 per sq/ft.  They look great, and have a really tight grain and some interesting knots that give character but do not detract from the look or strength of the wood.  You can email at info.buildwithprospect.com if you are interested. Thanks, Jeremy

Try M. Fine Lumber, they carry **salvaged woo**d from demolished buildings and their selection includes longleaf yellow pine, oak, and Douglas fir – 1301 Metropolitan Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11237 / 718.381.5200\.  Also try Olde Good Things in Manhattan at 212-362-8025, sometimes they’ll have some available as well. I tried Build It Green for this exact thing and they have it from time to time but they were out of it (3 weeks ago)… please don’t call them so I can get it whenever it comes in 😉

Thanks for the suggestions.  I called Moon River and they are definitely a bit pricey.  Was hoping for more raw, salvaged at a cheaper price (but so is probably everybody 😉  Craislist looks promising.  Thanks again!

I got a bunch at Build It Green. I no longer remember the price but it was cheap — $2 a square yard, maybe? You could call and see if they still carry it.

Try craigslist under materials — there are usually a bunch of listings there.
