Hardwood floors over concrete substrate

Hi all, Can anyone share their experience putting hardwood floors over a concrete subfloor? I’m torn between installing 1/2″-3/4″ plywood substrate, moisture barrier, then hardwood, vs. moisture barrier over the concrete and installing with expansion joints. Thoughts? Thanks!

Use 3/4″ plywood over the moisture barrier then hardwood flooring.

Put moisture barrier directly over the concrete.
