Best place to get new tires for car?

It’s weird I know, but when we got the wheels stolen off our Honda Fit in Windsor Terrace a couple of years ago, I shopped around (I like a lot to buy local) but found it was far faster and much much cheaper – like half price – to order the tires and rims online.  Free shipping, better choice of tires and they arrived in 2 days.  Have also used CostCo.  Sears is a MUCH longer wait, don’t recommend.  FYI, used to get my Honda serviced at Plaza until they neglected to tighten up the cap after an oil change, now I just go to Ultramotive on Coney around Cortelyou, really good guy there.

Hi all — need to get new tires for my car.  Has anyone had good experiences with any of the places on 3rd or 4th Avenue?  FWIW, the car is a Honda CRV.  (I know there’s a dealer in Bay Ridge, but have had a few not-great experiences there, and would rather stay local anyway.) Thanks!

If you’re a Costco member they have good prices on Michelin and Bridgestone tires . The tires on my CRV are Michelin Xs from there. BTW, I too have had “not-great” experiences with Bay Ridge Honda; I wouldn’t ever buy tires from ANY dealer, but these guy’s service department is in a special category (and not in a good way).

I usually get my tires from tire-rack, and have a local place do the install.  Never had an issue that way. re: bay ridge honda – add me to the list of “will never go back” lol.

Costco is fine for tire installations. Unless you have warranty or esoteric diagnostic work stay away from new car dealers. They are too expensive.

On line from Tirerack or ano of the other on line discounters with installation by a local tire shop.  Mavis an Hilna locally sometimes have good prices.
