Slimy Brick Patio

We have a back patio made of exterior bricks we removed during renovation. But we’re having some issues with it, including that the brick seems to absorb water and stay constantly wet and slimy. Walking barefoot on it is vaguely unpleasant, and it gets our feet all dirty no matter how much we sweep it.

Does anyone know what’s causing this? Is there a way to keep the brick dry and clean?

Common brick is very porous compared to brick pavers, they’re not a great option for paving. You could try power washing and applying a sealer. Sakrete do one.
