Help! Our landlord painted our brownstone a bright red color!

Alas, I have no advice to altering the landlord’s choice of exterior paint color. However, it may interest you to know that despite its reputation, appearance, and scant landmark designation, Northside is one of the earliest settled areas of Brooklyn (at the intersection of Metropolitan and Bushwick avenues) and has many buildings of historical importance, including many early 19th century buildings. The city records will typically state everything was built in 1930 (ha!) but that’s usually false. There are no small number of circa 1830-1850 wood frame Greek Revival/Italianate buildings hiding under vinyl siding and mid 20th century alterations.

Our landlord painted a side of our brownstone a crazy, bright red color. Fire truck red. We live in a block of brownstones in North Williamsburg that is unfortunately not of historical importance. Outside of contesting it directly with the landlord, I guess we’re stuck with it. I was hoping for any kind of advice how to even tone it down for the time being, since I doubt my landlord will have paint removal services over. (Since the landlord is also a cheapskate, I doubt they even bought the right brick paint for this and is probably using bog standard exterior paint)
