There’s a legal two family property in decent condition but it’s being used as one family. The owners converted the kitchen on top floor into a bedroom probably 10 to 12 years ago. No one knows the condition of pipes etc – they haven’t been used in years. Now, my question is, is it possible to convert it back to a working kitchen so the floor can be rented out? Anyone here done any such projects? thx

Yes, you certainly can install a new kitchen at the same location. You probably need to replace existing pipes, which maybe removed as well, in that case just install new. It’s a simple task.

Check to see if the hook ups are still there. If so, run the water and drains to see how they function. Should be a piece of cake.

If it’s a typical Bay Ridge home it’s probably built in the 20s. Original supply piping was typically threaded brass. If its not a problem now, it probably wont be unless disturbed. I agree with the prior opinions. Should be a relatively painless procedure.
