Basement Conversion

Is it a basement or a cellar? If it is a cellar, the room cannot be used for sleeping purposes. If you plans to install plumbing, plans must be filed with the DOB for approval and signoff.

We are moving into a new house and would like to convert the basement (currently unfinished) into a guest room/office/storage area. Has anyone done this and have any recommendations as to who to do it with or places where I can look for ideas? Thanks!

If you have window then you are allowed to make room or office and even storage without doubt. But you must make different room for your boiler with door. you can not have any kitchen or bathroom, and if you need a contractor call this people millad 718-669-8305\.
