no gas dryers in bathroom?

The idea is that for gas drier you need combustion air for proper combustion. Bathroom has exhaust fan, so you have 2 appliances trowing air out of closed space. ( If you do not have exhaust fan then fresh air louver must be installed in door or wall) Where will gas drier get air for combustion? In the boiler rooms exhaust fans specifically forbidden as well.

I am renovating and we are putting a washing machine and gas dryer in a bathroom.  we just had athe plumbing inspection and were told that we can not put a gas dryer in a bathroom.   this was news to me, the contractor, the plumber and the architect. Can anyone offer any insight into this situation?  Is this a new code?  If so, we may have filed before it went into effect.  Hopefully…

Not to sound snarky but shouldn’t the architect, the contractor and the plumber know???    If this is just some DOB inspector being a jackass (likely given the crap that happens here), I wish you luck, sincerely.

It’s true. My plumber told me when I tried to install. He said you can throw up a temporary wall and then remove. My architect did not know either. But don’t get me started….

So cobblekrill, can it be in a closet in a bathroom???   That’s the way most of them seem tobe installed anyway, as opposed to open free standing in the bathroom.  Looks better too.
