Inspector visit re Certificate of Non Harassment

I just want to make sure I am understanding you correctly.  Can my Certificate of Non Harrassment take an additional 9 months AFTER the inspection?  And that I don’t have to worry about my illegal kitchen?  As for the rest of the house, I’m pretty sure it matches what the current Certificate of Occupancy says. I plan to use Scott Schall as my Expeditor.  He says he can draw up my architectual plans for filing with the DOB. The city and the DOB make me NERVOUS!!! LOL!!!

I filed for a Certificate of Non Harassment in July 2012.  I’ve heard a city inspector visits your building to see if it is empty or if any of the tenants are being harassed.  There are no tenants in my building except myself and my husband.  What I am concerned with is what else the city inspector might be looking for – mainly violations.  Plus I’m concerned that I might have an illegal kitchen on one of the floors of the builiding that I’m wondering if I should rip out. Does anyone have any experience in regarding these issues?  If you do, please let me know. Thanks.

He will look if you renovated the house from it´s original SRO configuration.
It´s best if you can still see the rooms and kitchens.
You should not do any renovation before you get the Certificate, and then you need to file permits anyway.
If you applied in July 2012, the inspector will come in 5-6 months. The certificate can take up to 9 months

The best tip I can give you is to start with your architect now, draw plans and file it with the DOB.
That process takes also a long time, especially with the conversion.
The ConNh can then be filed when you receive it. That might save you a few months.
