new water heater

Hi. My current hot water heater has been diagnosed on life support. It looks like I need a new one. The current one is roughly 75 gallon natual gas vented through the chimney. I’m just curious if anyone has any suggestions regarding brands or stores to make the switch as soon as possible. My instinct is just a very reliable, efficient but traditional water heater.

I’m really happy with my electric heat pump water heater. It would be another option. No venting and exhaust needed, and it keeps your cellar dry as a side effect.

Yup, all brands virtually same for traditional heaters. And, warranties void for anything more than single family. If it goes, just don’t tell them.

Traditional water heater. Reliable: they come with 6 and 10 year warranty. Usually it is how long they last without maintenance. Efficient: there is no such thing as efficient traditional water heater. You are getting 55-60% efficiency out of these at best. Brands: it does not matter, there’s no difference.
