New Chest Freezer Has A Burning Smell...Is This Normal

Hi. I just recently purchased a small Summit chest freezer. I plugged it in tonight and I first noticed that that outside was a little hot to the touch in the front part. But there was also a burning smell coming from the freezer. Is this normal? I had it on a total of two hours and the smell did not get any better. It is now unplugged because I just don’t want to take a chance and I can’t call the comapnay because they are closed until Monday. So hopefully someone here can advise me. Thanks.

It may, or may not, be normal, but IMO, when you consider the possible consequences, the best thing to do is to leave the freezer uplugged over the weekend until you can check with the manufacturer or dealer.
