We started calling for estimates.  One plumber told us we didn’t have to file for the conversion since we’re a 1 family home.  Is this accurate because how would the City know to cancel our biennial Fire Dept. visits?  Our tank is outdoors and currently empty.

you defintely need to file. you will also need an extra gas meter for the heating account.

Filing is merciful in that it is a LAA which can be filed by a plumber unless you have a VERY BIG house.
