Boiler Inspection

All boilers always needed a backflow preventer. As of July 1, 2008, all steam boilers require a check valve in addition to the backflow preventer.

I own a mixed use building that requires an annual boiler inspection. This yaer the inspection was done by an inspector provided by the building’s insurance carrier. He asked that a check valve and a backflow preventer be installed. He claimed this was a new building department regulation. The boiler is 10 years old. Does anyone haveknowledge of these requirements and what a reasonable cost for this work?   Thank You
