Permit for tiling my basement and paving my front courtyard?

Seriously DiBS! Nothing like promoting feelings of good-will and having respect for your neighbors. Because, as I think you pointed out previously, a motorcycle cover would NEVER have done the trick.

Do I need a permit for paving my brownstone`s front courtyard and tiling basement floor? Is there an online manual of what construction works require a permit? Have been browsing the net for hours and can`t find anything concrete. How does one know if he needs to pull a permit for a job? P.S. In case you want to know, I did put up my storage shed to garage my Ducati. The old farts started griping already but no official complaints yet 🙂

you do not need a permit to retile the basement. But you would need it to move pipes or electricals. I am not sure if you need permit to build partitions (a.k.a. walls)

Paving a front yard may run into problems with new restrictions against that. The idea being that we are all better off if there is greenery. Given you have just put the equivalent of an unpermitted shed/garage in your front yard, you might want to tread lightly.
