Credit Check Tenant

I always use ATS, but it can be rather cumbersome for an individual owner to open an account with them. But that said: I would never let a tenant bring their own credit report or use a service such as mysmartmove.com There seems to be much more theft of a persons ID just to rent an apartment these days. Yes; people use someone else s name, social security number etc just to rent apartment and you have no idea who is really in your apartment. So always do multiple cross checks, get City, State, Federal picture ID and always run a Court report to see if any landlord has had to take them to court for anything. And double check the prior addresses that come up on their credit report with what they have as employment etc. Always get a reference from the prior landlord, if you want a landlord reference, not their current landlord.(I find landlord references very subjective.)

I was going to use tenantreports.com based soley on price and ease of verification. But I eventually ended up using realtors who ran their own.

mysmartmove.com tenant pays and does all the work – owned by Transunion (the credit bureau). Works for us!
