Backyard Fencing

I had a great experience with Amendola’s Fence Company. They’ll be more than Lowe’s panels, but you’d have to add labor to that too. Amendola’s will be higher quality and a one-stop shop…labor/installation would be included. They’re in Long Island, but service Brooklyn too. http://www.amendolas.com/

Hi, We are in the process of renovating our brownstone and we are about to start with the garden/Backyard. It is a typical Brooklyn Brownstone backyard (19×55). We have been looking for affordable fencing options as our we have maximized our budget with the total renovation and we need to keep our cost on the lower end. Is there any lead on where we could get a low cost fence? The quote we get on the Home depot website are too high. We would consider second hand fences obviously as budget is our main concern! Thank you for your help!

You can buy 6’x8′ panels at Lowes for $30, stick a cap on them and paint them and they’ll last a good few years. The real cost is in the installation.

Thank you for this. It’s very helpful. What is the panels at Lowes? What should I be asking for (is there a brand)? Usually how many would you need for a standard Brooklyn backyard?

Google fence panels lowes. The $30 are untreated. Treated panels are twice as expansive & don’t need painting (I think). Why panels for a ‘standard’ backyard? Take your running length, divide by 8′, add 1.

The big cost of fencing is the labor. As stated above, the cheapest are the pre-made wood panels from Home Depot or Lowes etc., but be sure that they are attached to properly cemented in posts or the whole lot comes down with the first wind or gang of squirrels jumping across it. No you cannot buy used fencing, even chain-link fencing that does last forever needs specialized tools to install it properly so that would blow the budget.
