Seeking recommendations from folks who have had a wood fence installed in the last couple of years.

Also seeking recommendations for a good general carpenter — not a cabinetmaker. Someone who could build basic shelves, planters.

I have this tree, about 7-8′ high and can’t figure out what it’s called. Most characteristic are the long (2″) thorns on all the branches. It eventually bears a citru-like fruit about 2-3″ round with a tough yellow skin. My neighbor made a jam out of them and said that it was very bitter & tart.

Anyone know?

A friend of mine wants new grass for her back yard – any recommendations of suppliers & installers?

We need a recommendation for a cheap landscaper who can clean up a small backyard (200 sq ft) and replace two dead bushes with suitable replacements. We need someone with some basic knowledge of horticulture, not just a clean-up person. Recommendations appreciated.

Late last September I planted a red Maple tree in our backyard. I was diligent about watering it (not over-watering) and gave it a blanket of mulch. It appears to have lived through the Winter, but it isn’t growing nor blossoming. I know the spot I chose for it is acceptable as it is about 8 feet from where a Silver Maple lived for over 80 years. It’s still alive; when I scratched at the bark at the base of the tree it shows bright green. Does anyone have any advice for me?

We were generously just given beautiful mini-daffodils. They are mostly blooming and some are past bloom, but they can certainly be planted now, develop over the summer, and grow next spring! I planted as many as I could justify in our garden and would love to swap the rest (about 20 plants–not just a few, like the picture). This is what we can use and would swap for:
-Hostas (especially ones with BLUE or yellow in them!)
-Ferns
-Any colorful perennials (coral bells, bleeding hearts, coneflowers, black-eyed susans, alliums, irises (!!!), crocuses, amaryllises, gereniums, peonies (!!!), clematis, roses, wisteria or dahlias)
-Healthy veggie starts

We can also use a chicken coop, free standing planters, metal rods to hang planters off of fences, VOC-free sealant..

Any interest?

I am considering buying rolled bamboo fence to put over a chain link fence as an easier way to create some privacy and enhance the look of yard. Any comments on how bamboo holds in our weather? I would use a wood sealer to help but I hear conflicting reports on durability for bamboo fence.

It is that time of year and I need to clean all the tree crud off my paver brick patio. It is under a massive, old Norway maple which produces more tree waste than you can imagine. The net result of the winter, leaves, tree branches, etc. is a stained patio. Also, the concrete in the front of the house is also dirty and stained by more tree stuff in the front. I would rather not pay up for a power washer. I am wondering if anyone here has experience with a rental. The other alternative is a service which is not too expensive which could just come in, blast away and clean up the mess. Does anyone have recommendations? Thanks very much for your help.
