We have a spot in our roof that is leaking. There is a bubble under the rubber. We got an estimate for a repair to:
Cut the old roof where there are bubbles.
Patch it to level surface and install new rubber roof in the entire area.
Install metal edge flashing in the wall and finish it with aluminum roofing paint.
It was for $3200. Does that seem high?

  1. 2 years ago my neighbor had her rubber roof replaced (approximately 1000 sq ft) for $2500

  2. The bids I have gotten to do an entire roof and extension (@900 sq ft) this way run from 7000 on up.

  3. but cg, sounds like maybe lack of/poor flashing is the cause of the leak, not the bubble. Anyway we don’t have this info.

  4. Not knowing how big the bubbles/holes are, I would suggest taking a trip to Lowes (aisle 19 I think) and judging for yourself whether $3200 is too much or you can do it yourself. BTW, that was my last weekend’s project.

  5. I am in a similar roof situation, I have contacted a few roofers (nothing yet), but I’d be interested to hear who you got that bid from. Did you get any other estimates?
