I am finally ready to sell my house in Windsor Terrace. I put together a nice website with pictures and would like to start marketing it. Any idea where best I should post my ad?

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

  1. Hi. Really nice job. About the floor plan — I definitely agree that it should be plenty big enough to be easily readable. But the size you have it now is, I think TOO big. I can’t even see one floor at a time and I have a large desktop monitor. Also, for me, I always prefer when the floor plan opens a new window instead of a new tab so that I can easily look at the photos and the plan at the same time.

But really nice job with the sites and photos, and with the renovation itself especially considering budget constraints.

  2. what happened last year when you tried to sell it?

what price were you asking for pre-renovation?

  3. agree with denton about “ipod cool”

spelling error in the 3rd paragraph; dimension

why the commercial grade, lit exit sign in the basement? odd.

    otherwise, nice.

    good luck!

  4. Thank you, everyone, for your time, thoughtful comments and constructive criticism. I made several changes to the site, as per some comments, altering some text and adding a much better floor plan (thanks, Invisible, for the tip).

I plan to advertise on Craigslist and the Times for the Open House this weekend. And, if my house is featured in the Open House Pick of the Week, I will be honored, as I’ve been a devoted follower and participant of the feature.

In response to WrathofGates comments, I’ve been following this website for a while now and agree with most of its prevalent ethos and aesthetic predilections. I also tried and followed this website’s advice in terms of how to best sell a house. Therefore, I believe that the positive response on this thread is not accidental.

To defend some of choices of my renovation like recessed lighting and lack of original details, all I have to say is that I had very little to work with — none of the original details were preserved when I bought the house, and I tried to combine the modern and whatever was left of the old for the best result given my budget constraints.

Thank you, all, and wish me luck!

  5. If this listing was featured as the House of the Day it would be deemed too expensive and ridiculed for it recessed lighting, home depot finishes and vanilla kitchen. Funny.

  6. Great website, very professional looking. Great house, nicely priced…seems a good choice for open house pick and possibly a quick sell. Good luck.

  7. great site with the fades. i do like the black.

ditto on the floor plan. you can spruce it up by redoing a free one at floorplanner.com an put it on the main page where you can also link to a larger one.

also, im not sure why the cellar is not in the square footage. many are, especially if they’ve been reno’d. you should decide this before you list it, it is a pretty important detail.

also: might want to explain why WT is the best kept secret and the first hand plusses of the immediate area (by the cemetary) – great schools, easy parking, etc.

    very nice!!

  8. Nice job. Post on craigslist (it’s free) and add the link to your website. You may want to post on the NYT as well. NYT charges a fee.

    Good luck.
