  1. I’ve read the above back and forth between “Nick” and “wyckoff” and need to say that if your looking for a good roofer who takes pride in his work, you have one in Nick and his team. We’ve recommended to numerous friends and none of them have ever complained… Leak Master I can recommend heartily. TT Bean

  2. This is Nick Kontzamanis owner of Leak Master Roofing. It’s been a few years since I’ve posted a comment on any forum.
A former client of mine shot me over an email, informing me of a “negative & harmful” comment about me on this site. In fairness to the reputation of our family owned buisiness, (58 years in the making) I would like to respspectfuly question wyckoffs post.
Assuming that you are a former client of mine and not a jealous competitor, trying to shmere me. I truly wish that you would have called me and spoke to me personaly before you said such bad things about me on this site. I would gladly have adressed your concerns immediately.
A couple of negative comments like yours, on a popular site such this, could do serious harm to a family owned company like Leak Master that has spent over a halh a century building a the Great reputation that we have.
We NEVER have nor will we EVER put any type of tar or “black mud” over exposed brick. NEVER.
Roofers in New York City over the decades have developed the bad practice of puting tar and or roofing memrane over exposed brick on parepet walls and chimneys. Once this is done once, the next Roofer has no choice but to TOP COAT what was already covered. On a Re-Roofing or Go-Overjob.
The only way you can properly remove the existing tar or “black mud” from parepet walls and chimneys and install copper flashing and then cut a raglet and install a counter copper flashing is when you do a complete Tear-Off or Rip-Off.
Since it’s been over 5 years since we’ve done a Tear-Off I can safely assume that the roof we installed for you was a Go-Over.
If you go up on your roof and look at all the other roofs around you, you will clearly see that virtualy all parepet walls on other roofs have already been covered with tar or “black mud”.
Wyckoff please call me at 718 421 2000 or email me at leakmasterroofing.com if you have any other qestions with the job we did for you. I promise you that we only Top-Coated what was already covered in the past. I’m truly sorry that you feel this way about us. So much so to say these things about us.
I’m also sorry to take up so much time on your site. But I felt that this was serious enough and needed to be adressed.
And I’m also concerned about the pile up of negative comments that could follow. By the way I do not know of any guy named “JOE” either.
    Thank Yuo,
    Nick Kontzamanis

  3. Faithful, Nick is the one who has done the work on our roofs and he has always been competent AND meticulous. On one occasion, he did have his son working with him, but no complaints there. We’ve never met or heard of “Joe” before. Maybe this is a new development?

  4. hmmm…I spoke with Nick yesterday, but I’m still waiting for his partner Joe to give me a call to set up an appointment….NEXT!!!!

  5. They are on time and polite, etc., but some of the things they do are questionable. For instance, instead of flashing the parapet with copper or aluminum at the base, they’ll just smear a thick layer of black tar from the roofing material to the top of the parapet, which not only looks awful, it’s not good for the brick. Each case probably depends on the job and the condition of the existing roof and flashing. While I’ve been dry for 5 years, I wish I had assumed less, asked more questions, and used someone else, cause I worry about my 160 yr old brick, the inevitable deterioration of the black mud they’ve spread all over it, and the eventual remediation I will have to deal with in the next 5-10 years.

  6. Nick and Leak Master are very competent and professional with great customer service skills. We first used Nick several years back to deal with leak issues on both the extension and main roofs. He could have tried to sell us roof replacement on the main (as some other contractors tried to do) but Nick said it wasn’t necessary because all that was needed was repair of the skylight and flashing. Well, he was right! Through several season of torrential rainstorms, the main roof has not leaked since. Yes, he did replace the extension roof at a very reasonable price. It has not leaked since as well. High marks to Leak Master, our roofing company of choice.
