The Big Reveal at 360 Smith

She calls the building, which has been under construction since 2008, “uninspired,” “out of scale,” “out of context,” and for good measure: “Fugly.” Clearly the building dwarfs its neighbors but the overall look doesn’t seem to be worse than most other new buildings that have popped up around town in recent years.

given it’s on the corner, the out-of-scale thing is lesser of an issue than if it was in the middle of the block
As far as new buildings go it looks ok. It probably would have looked much better on 4th Avenue.
The main problem though is it’s way too big for that block. If it was a couple floors shorter it wouldn’t be so bad.

hahahhaha. i say the same thing about 3/4’s of the people i walked passed on the street on a daily basis.

I prefer the dirty dumpy garage across the street. Have you really looked at that thing? I’d kill to get my hands on that space. This building, while not totally offensive is just way too big for the area/block. Between this and the day school next door it really changes the feel of the area, not in a good way.
perhaps she (PMFA) prefers the dumpy dirty mess/garage across Smith st. from this?
Not inspiring, nor offensive. CG is not landmarked so it’s anything goes.
we have to get used to it – there will be a hundred more of these in bklyn in the next two-five years….. at least majority in williamsboig
I think it is the white or grey on the top of the building that i do not like. The red bricks with the bronze windows, I do like.
umm, maybe if it was 1 floor shorter…..
