Over-the-Top On the Park: Ikon Party Recap

The opening party that The Developers Group threw for the Karl Fischer-designed Ikon, one of the new additions to condo row on Bayard Street in Greenpoint, was over the top to say the least, but we guess that was the point. Valet parking, velvet ropes, slinkily clad hostesses, you get the idea. Despite a visit from DOB and some glitches with the elevator, the club music kept pumping and, more importantly to the hosts, wealthy prospective buyers kept shlepping through the model apartment. Whether all the glitz will pay off in the form of sales at the 58-unit development remains to be seen. If it does, it will be due in no small part to the much talked-about views (see below), which are pretty spectacular, especially if you’re a soccer fan. We haven’t seen any prices yet. Anyone heard anything?
the whole yuppie greenpoint vs yuppie williamsburg is very funny, sad, sick. Wake up! Both nabes need to fight for the things they need in common>
Yawn boring condos. Potential homebuyers go to Queens already. Stop the madness.
That is interesting. The same group sold the buidling next door and at the time they were saying that the IKON would much more expensive.
Are any of the units 2000 sq feet or more?
Is the parking indoors or outdoors?
“the entire thing was more buzz than substance. the materials are not the top of the line and spaces were tiny and poorly laid out–absolutely not worth the $1.5 million price tags that they were going for”
Umm, were you at the right building?? The Kitchen is outfitted with subzero and Miele appliances. The floors are Brazilian walnut. The bathrooms are lined in limestone and all fixtures are either Hansgrohe or Kohler. Plus the actual structure of the building is much more solid than most new development because it is the conversion of a former factory. Thats all pretty much as good as it gets. And for the record, no I am not a broker. I did, however, purchase a one bedroom after looking in Williamsburg for roughly a year. Oh and lets not forget the touch screen that comes in every apartment with smart home technology. And there wasn’t anything for over a million dollars. Almost everything was less than $750 per sq ft.

I guess you have not visited the blogs lately. Although, you are probably right about the handful of residents looking to make some cash, the blogs and vice magazine are Williamsburg based. Only six residents joined the Riverkeeepers lawsuit. None of them live above the spill. One is a Williamsburg resident. Many of them including Laura Hoffman were against the residential rezoning. Connect the dots. All these lies started after Greenpoint was able to get its East River waterfront rezoned.

quite the contrary, It’s my impression the greenpointers involved in the exxon-mobil lawsuit are trying to push this misinformation for their own benefit since the facts cannot support their case.
There are countless blog, articles, videos all being created in Williamsburg publishing lies about Greenpoint trying to scare people away. Curiously, it started just after Greenpoint fought against the wishes of Community Board 1 and local brooklyn politicians to get its East River waterfront rezoned for residential use.

wburg and greenpoint actually have lower cancer rates than park slope, brooklyn heights and many other bklyn neighborhoods.
but overall, greenpoint has some of the lowest cancer rates in all bklyn and even nyc/nys. go figure.
