Development Watch: 73 Pineapple
It’s been a long time since we’ve checked in on 73 Pineapple, but not much has happened since then. In fact, it looks pretty much the same, despite the scaffolding coming down. Eventually, this will be a nine-unit residential building. 73 Pineapple Gets Glassy [Brownstoner] 73 Pineapple Gets Bricked [Brownstoner] Development Watch: 73 Pineapple Street…

The place next door is a bar and wine bar, NOT a coffee shop. Lots of comments on the Brooklyn Heights Blog. I guess “VINEapple” wasn’t a big enough give-away, huh?
It’s taking forever on the construction here, and it’s all been done on the cheap, as was the reno on the two other buildings, 71 and 75. No new windows, facade wasn’t cleaned or repointed, old crappy facade on Vineapple just left there. There’s a new board just over the door where resident pigeons were sealed in to starve to death. Schlock all the way through.
There was also a leak in the basement of 75 that gushed water for several months until DOB shut them down until they fixed it.
Walked by there today and there was one construction guy on the premises. That is one more than I have seen over the last month.
Also checked out new coffee shop next door, called Vineapple, and was shocked how big that space is. If they can make good Stumptown and the cakes and carbo’s are tasty, they may have a shot. Not big on the couch thing but the place has a nice bar up front and couch area in the back.
The delay in construction must be about financing.
Pineapple Street needs a micro-bubble asap.
