Booker Again Predicts Nets Won't Make It To Brooklyn

“I’m going to go way out on a limb here and let you know maybe more than I should… I am confident now more than ever that the deal in Brooklyn is just not going anywhere. I think there’s going to be a comeuppance very soon where the team is going to go up for sale. That’s my prediction–I really do believe it. I’m working on this issue more than I ever imagined I would, because the Nets in Newark would have a significant game-change, in terms of the energy and the excitement and the job opportunities and economic investment in our downtown. So it’s something I’m working on a lot. I’ve watched the deal very closely. I know people that are involved in the deal. It does not look like it’s going anywhere in Brooklyn.“ — Newark Mayor Cory Booker on WGBO radio
“and now we have Urban Blight for years to come.”
The area doesn’t look any better or worse than it has in the last 40 years. It was f**ked up pre-AY and remains so, post-AY. Nothing has changed.
I think the what is on point on this. All those hotels, condos were fuled by the vision of a 24×7 downtown with a sports team that MM was pushing. AY dampened the sales of homes/condos close to the footprint but it fueled the speculation.
“So will they rebuild the damn Carleton bridge already?”
That Bridge is not coming back. It will remain like that for the foreseeable future…
The What
Someday this war is gonna end..
Talk about a best case scenario. Newark gets some economic activity that it actually needs and Brooklyn is saved from a neighborhood-wrecking boondoggle. I just hope that Ratner has to pay for the mess he’s already created and that the jackass politicians that supported this get the boot they so richly deserve. So will they rebuild the damn Carleton bridge already?
i’m sure Newark needs it more than BK. fine.
Ratner sucks.
Did Cory also predict the sun would rise in the east tomorrow and that if you drop a hammer it will fall?
Anyone could see this coming for over a year. Good luck, Newark!
What…the music stopped when lehman went bust. it has already restarted. You’ve lost your place on the Merry-Go-Round.
” I also agree with you that the whole thing was a land grab bid, and that there will be vast swaths of empty lots there for years to come. I’ve said that since day one.”
Montrose Morris when the music stops Downtown Brooklyn is going to look like a shithole!!
The What (Ker-Boom!)
Someday this war is gonna end…
Let me be magnanimous and say it’s been nice knowing you too What. Now leave and let the adults talk.
