The Brooklyn Dominican Parade
This Sunday, Aug. 26, starting at 12 pm at Graham Avenue and Broadway. This festival is for all ages; parents, bring your kids and have fun. There will be food vendors, music, arts & crafts and much more.
104th Annual Prison Ship Martyrs Memorial Tribute
The 104th annual Memorial Tribute and commemoration of the 236th anniversary of the Battle of Brooklyn will be held Saturday, August 25th, at 10 am. Proceedings will take place at the base of the 148-foot tall Prison Ship Martyrs Monument, at the top of the hill in Fort Greene Park. Keynote remarks will be delivered by veteran journalist Susan DeMark, an editor, historian, educator and author of the digital site Mindfulwalker.com. The patriotic exercises will include a maritime piping ceremony, invocation, operatic selections, taps, eight mournful slow bells and brief remarks by elected officials.
Brooklyn Flea + Smorgasburg
Starting this Sunday, Sept. 9, Smorgasburg expands to a second weekly location, at the historic Tobacco Warehouse in DUMBO! It’ll be open every Sunday from 11am to 6pm, through Nov. 18. Of course on Saturday, the Flea is held at 176 Lafayette Avenue (between Clermont and Vanderbilt avenues) in Fort Greene. On Sunday, the Flea will be at 27 North 6th Street (between Kent Avenue and East River). Saturday at the Williamsburg location is also the home of our all-food market, Smorgasburg. The Flea features over 150 vendors offering a great mix of vintage, antiques, jewelry and amazing food. Flea: Saturday & Sunday, 10 am to 5 pm. Smorg: Saturday, 11 am to 6 pm. Free.
