Is it a defense that the windows are an exact rendering from the historic tax photos? Not sure whether Landmarks would have LET us do anything different!
Yes, those windows are too close together on the first and second stories.
Otherwise this house is super gorgeous despite its narrowness. Dollhouse cute.
If you can’t see the difference between this house and the ones next to it…..
> narrow frame house with ill-proportioned windows
I agree with Benson. Which means this must indeed be the End Times.

Houseowax;
To each his own, especially when it comes to taste. My main point, once again, is that had this been a new house with the same-sized windows, there would have been a feast of tsk-tsk’s.
“If that’s what you want to call a narrow frame house with ill-proportioned windows.”
Yup, Benson. A beauty. That’s exactly what I want to call it. That’s why I called it that.
As for proportions, these houses are indeed narrow, but their staircases run up the center and switch back, so there’s no allowance in the width for a staircase. As such the proportions of the living spaces are around the same as a house that’s 5 feet wider.
Anyhow, I think the ‘ill-proportioned windows’ are breathtaking- the best feature of the house. When a house is narrow and has no side windows, any feature that maximizes natural light is a plus.
If this were modern construction, folks would be complaining about the huge amount of glass!
I love them, though.
If the whole row were restored, this would become a famous group of houses. They are very unusual and appealing.
That laundromat murder just horrible.
