Steve Levin = kinda cute!
taxes in nj are important because they do fuel good systems. also you have no clue the vast amount of people in nj who are on welfare and live in the projects, etc. Most property taxes in NJ are syphoned (pilfered) into Camden and Newark. That’s just how it rolls in nj, like it or not.
*rob*
I break even in 3 to 5 years on the place I am hopefully buying, according to the calculator. I’ll have a foot in both camps, being a renter elsewhere as well.
Yeah, that’s what deterred me from buying in North Bergen or West New York. Taxes and condo association fees were bonkers.
dibs, but I think residents are reaching an a ha moment. Hoping Christie can help those poor people. My friend pays 22K to live in a 3 bedroom 2 bath ranch. A colleague in North bergen pays 8K for a one bedroom condo.
m4l, we didn’t have an increase last year but will do a 10-15% this year, mainly due to tax increase.
That NYT calculator says I should rent for a while, even if I build in some home price and rent appreciation. Maybe that just means I have a good deal on my rental.
DeLepp, if there is one thing certain on this earth it’s that taxes will continue to go up in NJ. And, it has been extremely detrimental to property prices. When i was looking in Bucks County, PA, I’d ocassionally come across what looked like a bargain listing but inevitably it woiuld be a NJ property not more than 1 mile across the river with taxes that were 3-5X higher!!!!! Yes, 3-5X…takes that were $15-25,000 vs. $4-5,000 in PA. Utterly ridiculous.
all those folks that I saw practicing on how to open a door are now relieved that won’t need to do it for themselves. I think they were getting carpal tunnel with all the practicing.
Delepp, my maintenance is going up again!!!!!!!!!! and we don’t have a doorman
