I have to agree with stevie on the Swiss gov’t position.
That said, i bet 90% of the people around the world today outside of predominantly Muslim countries would vote to ban minarets!!!
Muslims hava huge PR problem and they largely seem to be doing nothing about it.

The swiss people *IS* the government. The swiss government may pay lip service in opposing it because a lot of wealthy arabs have swiss bank accounts. But that is all it is, lip service.
Talk about ignoring context: Blackwater operatives have been implicated in torture, rape, murder and general disdain towards the “natives”. And they’re immune from punishment (thanks to Cheney). Whether or not it’s true the populace cheered, I’d wager you’d be the first to cheer if you and yours were subjected to this treatment.
How does it matter if the Seals are “our most elite force?”…does this make them immune to the Geneva conventions? Or are these not applicable because we’re not technically at war?
And the court rules are because: “[the charges] are the military equivalent of misdemeanors, they will go before a special court-martial, which is for less serious offenses than those heard in a general court-martial.” If freed, there will be no record against them. Travesty?
The Swiss government opposed the ban. It was a referendum.

really??? the swiss government just banned the minaret, a muslim religious symbol. So much for european governments “rolling over to muslim radicals”
I saw something about the Navy Seals case, DIBS. It’s disgusting. Europe’s governments have been rolling over to Muslim radicals for years and I fear this US administration is starting to do the same.
I vote for Larry Summers.
