I don’t find it disgusting or perverted, nor do I freak- I just think its a little too in your face for my taste. I don’t particularly see the need to make everyone aware of your breast feeding or carry on as if its a huge civil rights question. It isn’t.rights, and I certainly don’t think the guard should have his/her job at stake for saying something. I think our society is pretty damn hypocritical- it isn’t muddying anything to wonder why a woman can breast feed in public but two women can’t marry. And denton- that comment about women was sexist and out of line.
Context is everything, and we don’t have it here. Was the mother discretely nursing her infant while supervising her toddler? Or was she actively baring her breast, defying anyone to look at her? Were 12-year-olds present, or was it toddler hour? Did the guard politely suggest a more discrete location? Or did the guard act like the woman was committing a sexual felony in a children’s area? There are plenty of people who think nursing is a disgusting, perverted thing, and there are a few who think nursing bare-breasted can be done anywhere, anytime. We really don’t know.
bxgirl, I’m surprised at you. Are you saying breast feeding is only OK in the company of grown men?
I mean really. To protect folx’ delicate sensibilities she should go in the bathroom and pump? I’m damn glad she stood up for her rights and yeah that security guard is in need of some training. As usual, seems that the main enemy of women is, yup, another woman.

In all honestly, so do I. Really…what is the big deal? Like you say, that’s what they’re for (well, mainly).
I’m gay and I’ve never breast fed anyone. I don’t get it.
I think people need to get a grip and remember why women have breasts in the first place. It’s to feed babies. Can it be done discreetly? Yes. Do some people take it a little far? Yes.
Do women have a right to feed their babies even if it happens to be while they are out? YES. Sometimes I need to get some food eat when I’m not at home.
It has nothing to do with beauty or obscenity for that matter. Go to any country in the entire world besides the United States and this issue NEVER comes up. I find it absolutely bizarre that people get freaked by this.
Also, can we not muddle it with the gay rights issue. While both are valid one had nothing to do with the other.
